New years Resolution: keep up with my blog!
Happy happy happy New Year everyone!!! I know this wish is so belated that most of you have already broken your new year's resolutions by now - that's why I don't make any.....I guess next year would be a good year to start! So now that it's a month after Christmas, I can say that the spirit of Christmas still rides strong in the plethora of lights and decorations still haunting the streets of Beijing. Kind of like the ghost of Christmas past that had no past. Many people don't really know what Christmas is however they buy into it (much to the satisfaction of store clerks) because it is 'in fashion' nowadays. Still, most Chinese people don't celebrate Christmas but there are more decorations here in Beijing than you'd ever see in Canada!
For Christmas, a friend of a friend allowed us to take over her house and live in it for Christmas eve...she forgot to mention that her husband is filthy rich and they own a luxury house in the suburbs of Beijing!! We had a great time cooking (even though most of it had been prepared beforehand by my good friend Dal here...) and I compensated for my lack of culinary skills by heading the games department for the night. I took some pictures of the house so that I can refer back to them for decoration ideas after I find my own suga daddeh....

Dal and I: entertainers.... / Christmas dinner................/Santa is really lucky this year ;)

.........Chaos in the warehouse....even facemasks can become stylish.....more pics..............

...cutest couple award goes to......such a nice kiss........................more chaos......................
For New year's Eve was really entertaining! we went to a warehouse in the heart of the art district in Beijing. The 'yen' party was attended by more than 2000 people that night and it was a really funky scene - the party would have been PERFECT if the dj's had played something other than techno/house music for the whole night! There were 6 different dj's and 5 hours of music - that's a lot of techno for one to tolerate - even if you're a fan of that kind of electronic garbage. All in all it was an awesome night and there was definetly a Jagermeister stand which helped me find my dancing shoes for the new year...I think i woke up with a pulled tendon in my neck from bobbing my head too much that night.
So that was my holiday festivities in a nutshell. I hope everybodya is doing well in Canada and wherever else you may come from. I will be leaving soon for a 3 week trek around southern China (Yunnan and Guanxi Provinces) but when I come back I"ll post my pics on the site for you to gawk at hehe.
XOXO Mare
